Le Sultan De L'Amour
This must be one of those movies that's consciously looking backwards to the earliest French industry, right? And my favorite bit was the scene where they carefully set up a proscenium arch on the screen... and then staged all the action in front of it.

Re: Noirvember

Family melodrama/war movie, but noir-adjacent: Address Unknown by William Cameron Menzies (and shot by Rudolph Mate!), 1944, is pretty amazing; the big suspense/action sequences are so over-the-top hyperbolic that they seem like nightmares, totally divorced from any feeling of 'realism'. Gunman In T...

Mixed feelings about it (mostly positive, but never *wildly* positive), but Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 11/9 is timely and topical in this moment.

Trump anxiety? I was with a group of people in an SUV; I forget what the link between us was or what we were proposing to do, but it involved getting hold of (and later using) a gallon of nitroglycerin. Something went wrong and we had to bail from our ride; I was handling the nitro, but I somehow go...

You've probably figured it out already, but it's a third version of Murder, made at UFA in German. I don't trust my memory, but I think the script was changed around substantially.

Martian Time Slip's one of my favorite PKDs. You think you might tackle Dhalgren? I haven't read it since it came out, but I trust it would hold up as a big fat modernist mess. A fabulous big fat modernist mess. And there's Delany's notorious porn novel, which I wasn't able to finish...
