Split/CIN/screen/EMA or the Fractal Caterpillar
Split/CIN/screen/EMA or the Fractal Caterpillar
making a separate thread to document split-screens, multi-screens, frames within frames or any of the other ways the original film-strip fragments, partitions, invades, disrupts and separates the shared narrative-space within itself...
not sure if this should include all multiple exposure stuff? (although that would make the thread quite pretty)

The same kind of trick-film/special effects stuff that Buster's character shot in The Cameraman. Optical-printer stuff done in-camera. One gimmick I've never seen anywhere else.

Re: Split/CIN/screen/EMA or the Fractal Caterpillar
die stadt der millionen - adolf trotz (1925)
this feels more like state propaganda than city symphony proper (was the ruttmann a response to this?) but they really liked the split screen
