list updated.

plenty of new :helpsign: and a few new :pirates: namely: Emile Cohl, Kathryn Bigelow, Lawrence Kasdan, Bob (Benjamin Robert) Clark*, Roger Spottiswoode, Gabriel Veyre, Georges Schwizgebel, Ub Iwerks

* "Bob Clark" was specified as "director of Murder by Decree, 1979" by oscar (which means there might be more Bob Clarks in the cinema business). so, i started to call him "Bob (Benjamin Robert) Clark". i hope previously listed views of "Bob Clark" by greg and flip referred to the same person.

last but not least, a completely new name in the list, i.e. Bruno Sukrow (Henri Rousseau of the contemporary cinema)! thx wba!!!
i added him not only to the waiting room list but also made several (31) entries to KM → https://www.kinometer.com/?director=246 ... ear-latest
don't be mistaken by the "33 films" claim — i was so deeply mesmerized by DIVE INTO DOOM / TAUCHFAHRT INS VERDERBEN (so excited about this flick's existence) that i added it 3 times in the database (a mistake soon to be fixed by a sober KM admin).
was also able to spot film stills of about half of the entries and thus now (i believe) KM can offer the most comprehensive overview of Bruno Sukrow's oeuvre (on imdb absent, mubi 4 entries, lbox 9 entries, etc.).
didn't watch anything yet (only thoroughly investigated his filmography) but hopefully will also add at least 7+ to the list soon (am ready even to re-learn my nearly forgotten german just to be able to watch as many gems as possible of this prolific filmmaker).
DIVE INTO DOOM and THE MADMAN OF THORNHILL seem especially promising!

i'm a bit confused - isn't the bob clark who directed murder by decree the famous bob clark, the one who directed the karate dog and superbabies: baby geniuses 2, or is there another bob clark? i've never heard about a different one

Sukrow is a truly magnificent filmmaker, one of the best working in Germany for the past 15 years.
I'd like to get my hands on a filmography, so I'm curious where you found out about those 31 films of his you added to kinometer.
He's probably made close to 100 animated ones, I'd guess (but that is a very rough guess from what I've heard over the years).

i am completely unfamiliar of any Bob Clark whatsoever.
i just inferred from the claim "Bob Clark 7+(Director of "Murder by Decree"-1979)" that there might be more Bob Clarks around.
and after consulting dilettante encyclopedia (my compulsive-obsessive bad habit) i nicked "Bob Clark" as "Bob (Benjamin Robert) Clark" to avoid confusion — with probably the completely opposite effect (because there is probably no other "Bob Clark" of the repute of "Bob (Benjamin Robert) Clark"). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Clark

-----------------------------------

my main source to Bruno Sukrow's filmography was a website called "Margins" https://margins.re/Sukrow
there are 4 more titles that lack date and thus i didn't add them to KM.
the downside of the Margins is that it is only in French.
Margins est une archive en ligne et un micro-label spécialisé dans la musique brute, le cinéma hors-les-normes et la photographie outsider.

oh i see, he is responsible for canada's biggest box office success ever, by some measures (porkys) so he's famous enough here, and he also directed the seminal slasher film black christmas and the daytime christmas tv staple a christmas story so actually he might be a good poll to start up on xmas eve...

clark also made children shouldn't play with dead things and death dream, two truly seminal horror films. not much else though. haven't seen either of the baby geniuses films yet. i think a better career overall than norman jewison.

crossed are those that happened in the past (followed by a number) or are happening at the moment.
red means he/she is fit to be nominated (passed 10+7+7+ criteria).
so, you can nominate john boorman!

disclaimer: "Bob (Benjamin Robert) Clark" has anything to do with the Clarks shoe company manufacturing sheepskin slippers since 1825!

9 from Lucas? He hasn't directed 9 films! :D

Smith - 13. Van Sant - 14.

well, everything counts -- he has 21 directing credits on imdb, and i've seen all six features from 1971 onwards, along with 3 early shorts. if you asked me why i've seen so many, i would not have a good answer to the question. :)
