Trailer for Jordan Peele's film Us looks interesting. I loved Get Out so looking forward to his new film as well.

Vitalina Varela (Costa)

I Am An Artist (Serra)

The Beach Bum (Korine)

Dumbo (Burton)

Pinocchio (Garrone)

The Irishman (Scorsese)

John Wick 3 (Stahelski)

Ad Astra (Gray)

Once Upon a Time In Hollywood (Tarantino)

Unfortunately Alonso's next film Eureka won't be ready until 2020.

Very sorry to break it to y'all but the new Ceylan is terrible. I've liked everything he's ever done to varying degrees until this point but it has about two good scenes and is also interminably long.

I can't wait for the Shyamalan; Korine; Lindelof/Kassell TV show; the James Gray. Do we have a Carruth coming or am I imagining things? I'll keep an eye out for the new Star Wars; loved the Last Jedi but concerned it may be a perceived corporate course correction.

Looks like pretty slim pickings at this stage. After an extensive search the only film I'm looking forward to is Glass. Hopefully sone good films pop up and festivals and whatnot as the year unfolds.

There are still quite a few things that haven't come out here in Argentina (most of the Golden Globe/would be Oscar nominees). This year I saw in theaters movies from 2016... :? :? :?

But judging from what is supposed to be 2019 releases:

Where’d You Go, Bernadette (Linklater)

The Modern Ocean (Carruth). This one I don't see it like having a release in 2019 or maybe at all in Argentina, but based on Primer and Upstream Color I really want to see it.

Radegund (Malick). Not a big fan of Malick, but still.

The Sandman (Argento). Iggy Pop is going to be on this one, it should be fun.

Benedetta (Verhoeven)

3 from Hell (Rob Zombie). Sequel to “House of 1000 Corpses” (2003) and “The Devil’s Rejects” (2005).

Weathering with You (Makoto Shinkai)

Matthias & Maxime (Dolan)

I'm sure a lot of other things will appear eventually.

Andersson's ABOUT ENDLESSNESS for me.

^I was very interested in that until I saw stills. Looks more of the same. He originally said it was going to be a different kind of film.

Songs..... is one of my favs of the last 20 years, but I'm not convinced that style is worth repeating over and over. It has been diminishing returns, even if Pigeon was good.

In re: Andersson and diminishing returns -- well, maybe. We'll see. I'll take Roy Andersson's diminishing returns over Wes Anderson's anything ever.

i'm not getting diminishing returns from andersson yet, pigeon seemed to extend the style he had been working in previously, rather than simply rehash it

^^In what way? How it jumps around in time and/or attempts to blur time?

I also wasn't crazy about the antiseptic digital look either, but there were some very good scenes.

About Endlessness is without a doubt my most anticipated 2019 film, and I really hope it is "more of the same". I agree with Flip that Pigeon extended, if not perfected his style, but I would love to see if it can go further - and if not re-enter his world.

If Annette by Carax is released this year it will be a close runner up. (Alternatively Radegund by Malick)

I am also quite excited about:

Lost Letter --- Iwai
Matthias & Maxime --- Dolan
Roads --- Schipper
Ahmed --- Dardennes
Riding a Wave with You --- Yuasa
Weathering With You --- Shinkai
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood --- Tarrantino
A Tale of Three Sisters --- Alper
Parasite --- Bong

Ha! just wanted to write that Ad Astra is my most anticipated for 2019. :D

considering the book is a masterpiece (author is probably best known for desert of the tartars) and director is a brilliant cartoonist I’d say there’s a lot to be excited for.

Love desert of the tartars. I still remember reading a Buzzati collection of short stories called Le K when I was a teenager. That and tartars were my favorite books back then.

it's not until 2020, and i've never even seen Top Gun, but especially after hearing the back story from Cruise about how this was made and this being his love letter to aviation, this looks super dope.

Top Gun looks like fan service.

The new Costa (Vitalina Varella) was announced for Locarno. That is my most anticipated film of 2019.

I'm more looking forward to the free screening of STALKER next week than any of the new stuff...

^^Almost every set in that trailer is recycled from his previous films. Maybe that's the point? Who knows.
