Tried to find some 2009 music I like but just like with cinema it kind kinda feels like a very inbetweeny sort of year. Though here's a very early entry in the vaporwave genre, the video used to have a letterboxd entry but it's gone now.

okay how do you search years in music? 1972 i just googled, but 2009 is impossible without more criteria that i might not know i need to know....i thought about 2009 music but had no idea where to start, i can't even remember what i was listening to in 2009 other than it was probably 'electronic' in some way

can't even search my spotify 'library' by year to see all the albums i've liked....

oh, the whole "From Rotting Fantasylands" album sounds cool!

and this ↑ particular song (somehow) reminded me of my long-time fav ↓
tho, not completely sure if i perceived akin music vibes or if the phrase "eating rainbows" triggered "who is in the toilet, who is in the toilet, who is in the toilet" association?!?

Guess that would be last.fm? On there I can see which music i listened to the most in 2009 but I can't search for my most played music released in 2009, annoying that (maybe risckha knows how to do it?), just like the spotify year thing. Searching by year is all I do on letterboxd.

2009 is in the bloody toilet!

come on people, anything? loads of my usual enjoyables all released rubbish albums that year, or waited until 2010 to release something better

i can't find much decent at all apart from 2 earworms i had at the time (egypt's the valley of the kings, the lyric: "the virgin sand is my queen" over and over and over) and this, which since i just watched a b&w film the video below is a natural follow on and now i'm going to be humming that sodding jack white earworm for months again.

2009 isn't a great music year for me...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC_mU8tNJU0

very fond of the big blood album, and the tenniscoats/pastels record. and i think that first fever ray record holds up...

edit -

a very good year for indian film soundtracks

Everything Is Going According to the Plan

The key to our borders has been broken in two
And Our Father Lenin has withered away --
He's decayed into mold and wild honey.
And the Perestroika is still going and going according to plan.
And the mud has turned into bare ice, and everything is going according to plan.

And my destiny wants some rest.
I've promised it not to join the game of war.
But on my army cap, there is a hammer and a sickle and a star
How touching -- a hammer, a sickle and a star.
The wild lantern of anticipation is flailing
And everything is going according to plan.

And they fed my wife to the crowds.
With the fist of the world they pounded in her chest.
With worldwide liberty they tore her flesh.
So bury her in Christ - and everything shall go according to plan.

Only our grandfather Lenin was a good leader[*]
All the other ones are such shit.
All the others are enemies and such fucking assholes.
Over the homeland, the land of our fathers, an insane snow was falling.
I bought a "Korea" magazine[**] -- they have it good too.
They have Comrade Kim Il-sung, they have the same as we do.
I am sure that they have the same thing and everything is going according to plan.

Well, when we get communism it'll all be fucking great.
It will come soon, we just have to wait.
Everything will be free there, everything will be an upper.
We'll probably not even have to die.
I woke up in the middle of the night and realized that everything is going according to the plan.

[*]According to Yegor Letov, this part mocks political views of an average Soviet citizen.
[**] "Korea" was a propagandist magazine from North Korea, published in Russian and distributed in USSR.

am watching, for the second time, "pawel i wawel".
however, in a wakeful state, i watched only about 5 min yesterday.
the rest i "watched" unconscious.
was dead tired (when started watching), fell asleep (in the chair), and woke up again more than one hour later (when the film was already over).
then went to sleep (in the bed) and dreamt what i dreamt (viz another thread).

so, now (during the "rewatch"), when, after the silly beatboxing,...
Image

... appeared a silver "škoda" (the triumph of a local car manufacturing), i couldn't help stopping the film and minutely scrutinizing if the "škoda" is (or is not) driven by a cat?!
Image

silver "škoda" & Iceland always reminds me of the "triumph of a heart" & the (boring) cat husband driving his silver "škoda".
Image

and btw. there is also the silly beatboxing included (something Icelanders probably always do when hanging out together?!).
https://youtu.be/0z-rhM-dcO8

anyway, going back to the film...

i haven't really enjoyed any music lately....

15 stron świata / 15 corners of the world - zuzanna solakiewicz (2014) #CoMoPoland

Eugeniusz Rudnik revolutionized the idea of music itself with a pair of scissors and a magnetic tape. As part of the legendary Experimental Studio of Polish Radio, he revealed hidden value in rough and rejected sounds long before the rise of the DJs. In an era of electronic music created in a workshop resembling a scientific lab, he composed music to reach and to portray other human beings. “15 Corners of the World” is an attempt to hear the vision of his music.
