If you do have your films ordered in a hierarchy (best to "least best"), then it means I'll automatically want to get Les sièges de l'Alcazar
.
Alright Pabs, I reordered my list just for you. Some of those I've watched a long time ago, so take the ordering with a grain of salt... But the ones at the top are def my favorites of the year and the Les sièges de l'Alcazar is very high up there.

This is the entire content of the srt I've got lol:

1
00:00:09,652 --> 00:00:14,943
NOSTOS
THE RETURN

2
00:01:01,936 --> 00:01:09,242
Dialogue in the film is inspired by the
sounds of ancient Mediterranean languages.

If I see no more worthy 1989s (a surprisingly strong year for the lackluster 1980s, so good that I have to pull an Angel and scrap several of the ones I like that are gonna get plenty of votes anyway, like Decalogue) thisns the final:

A City of Sadness

There Were Seven Simeons (H. Frank & V. Eisner)
Black Rain
Why Has Bodhi-Dharma Left for the East?
Sitting on a Branch Enjoying Myself (J. Jakubisko)
Banana Paradise (Wang Tung)
Revenge (Yermek Shinarbayev)
A Tale of Adam Mickiewicz's 'Forefathers' Eve' (Tadeusz Konwicki)
Freedom Is Paradise (Sergei Bodrov)
Come, Come, Come Upward (Im Kwon-taek)
Bagh Bahadur (Buddhadev Dasgupta)
And Then There Was Light (Otar Iosseliani)
End of Old Times (Jiri Menzel)
Indian Nocturne (Alain Corneau)
Landscape with Woman (Ivica Matić)
Kuduz (Ademir Kenović)
The Touch (Amanzhol Aituarov)
Bashu, the Little Stranger (Bahram Beizai)
Margarit and Margarita (Nikolai Volev)
Mariya (Aleksandr Sokurov)
