Foundry Town didn't really ring true to me, but it's well-shot; there seems to be an incredible abundance of talent in Japanese cinema in the 50s and 60s.

Birthright is rougher around the edges, obviously. I've only seen one sound film from Micheaux now, but my impression is he was more comfortable in the silent era. Still, this one feels more genuine. Not enough to get my vote, unfortunately - I was still won over by Urayama's skill, and he was the more interesting discovery of this matchup for me.
