I'll try to see the Lithuanian movie, and if it makes the cut it I'll fit it in there somehow. Like every year of this decade, hard to whittle it down to 20.

Taking out some popular ones that'll get enough votes anyway (Nazarin, Rio Bravo, 400 Blows, North by Northwest, Odds against Tomorrow) to make room for obscurer goodies.

Floating Weeds

Pickpocket
The World of Apu
Day of the Outlaw
Fires on the Plain
Foma Gordeev
Chikamatsu's Love in Osaka
Violent Summer
A Man's Fate
Ballad of a Soldier
Stars (Konrad Wolf)
The Hanging Tree
Time Stood Still
Blind Date (Joseph Losey) (aka Chance Meeting)
Stranger in the Village (Ada Neretniece)
Whistling in Kotan (Naruse Mikio) (aka Whistle in My Heart)
The Three Annas (Branko Bauer)
Cross of Valor (Kazimierz Kutz)
Kiku and Isamu (Imai Tadashi)
Answer to Violence (Jerzy Passendorfer) (aka The Attempt)

I'll see if any of the subs sync to that. As for favor, send a list of things you're looking for.

Yeah, it was weird -- I was 80% finished with the tally and Ride Lonesome was in first place, none of the obvious canontop contenders were placing particularly high... and then the last page of ballots, all that changed.

Just last night I discovered that there was a Glauber Rocha short for the year, called Patio. Wish I had known in time...though it's not like I didn't already have more than I could watch...

And then I made myself watch Female Boss, even though polling had ended.I was already loving it a whole bunch, all the stars, even before1:26:50, when they pulled out their big gun

https://youtu.be/T5vT42pCwfI?t=5210

BUT THEN, in the last five minutes somebody came along and pimp-slapped the movie into compliance with male supremacist ideology and I had a big, big sad.
