Re: clues to movies that don't exist

I love the seasonal banner pics we have for scfz, but wouldn't it be fun to try mixing some visuals/frames from three or four films (from the same year, say 1931, or make a mix from a few radically different years/eras instead) into the one pic, using AI tools, to use as one of our banners?

Wow, love them all Sally! I still haven't tried AI tools. Maybe I should have someone riding a dinosaur for my avatar.

Re: Television

I started watching the first series (or "season" as yanks would call it) of ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING.

Two episodes in and it's fun. And also well made in every way.

lately i'm really struggling to commit to the 3+ hour movies on my watchlist, although i have no problem binging tv episodes. how do you all feel about watching long movies in "episodes" rather than watching the whole thing in one sitting? I do that often. I'll watch films in two, or even...

Sing Your Song - The Harry Belafonte Story (Rostock, 2011). I'm continually amazed at how fucking racist a lot of Americans have been/were (and some presumably still are). Horrified. It makes me hate many Americans. Sorry, but it does. There are some really really bad people in that country. https:...

I saw the blaxploitation film Coffy (Hill, 1973). It was so crazy, I loved it! A black woman, whose daughter died taking impure drugs, goes on a solo revenge rampage, hunting down and shooting every man she holds responsible in an orgy of vigilante justice. I can understand why women would object to...

I've been a big fan of the series EUPHORIA and I was very sad to hear one of its main actors, the wonderful Angus Cloud, died today.

I started watching Bertolucci's 1900 last night. I saw the first 1 hr and 40 mins of it. There's another 3 hours and 40 mins to go until the end. I'm liking it a lot. I'll probably end up seeing it in 3 or 4 parts, depending on what time of day I start watching each part, and how tired or alert I fe...

Incredible films, you should definitely look forward to part 3, many think it's the best. My preference is 1, 3, 2. I really, really thought this was a wonderful trilogy. Finished it a few hours ago. I guess I'm really odd, because my preference is 2, 3, 1. But as a single entity, it's gets a perfe...

I watched parts 1 and 2 of Kobayashi's The Human Condition , "No Greater Love" and "The Road to Eternity". Really amazing photography and a heart-wrenching story. It's a great anti-war, anti-military film, and it dares speak out about Japan's merciless violence during its empire ...

Flee (Rasmussen, 2021) 8/10 Great animated doco... I agree with you about this one. I had a pleasure of watching it on a big screen last year after being hesitant about the genre/form beforehand. It exceeded all expectations and delivered a captivating and thrilling story. I was hesitant, too. Glad...

Hey Flip, can we keep this poll open at least a few more months? Ideally, I think it should be kept open until December 2023 and then the next one, the "Best of 2023 Poll", should be kept open from January to December 2024, etc.
